Suomen telelääketieteen ja eHealth seuran hallitus jakaa vuosittain eHealth- tunnustuksen. Palkinnon saamisen kriteereinä on erityisen ansiokas toiminta telelääketieteen alueella, joksi katsotaan esimerkiksi telelääketieteen ja/tai eHealth alaan kuuluva väitöskirja tai muu erittäin merkittävä seuran tavoitteiden mukainen toiminta kansallisella tai kansainvälisellä tasolla. Palkinto jaetaan vuosittaisen kansallisen seminaarin yhteydessä, 12.-13.10.2023. Ehdotukset voi laittaa seuran sihteerille Pirkko Kourille elokuun 2023 loppuun mennessä osoitteeseen secretary@telemedicine.fi

Sosiaali- ja terveysministeriö (STM) kutsuu kaikki suomalaiset kertomaan näkemyksiään siitä, millaisia tulevaisuuden digitaaliset sosiaali- ja terveyspalvelut voisivat olla. Osallistumalla kyselyyn jokainen voi vaikuttaa, millä tavoilla yhteisiä palveluita kehitetään. The Journal of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (JISfTeH) is an open access peer reviewed journal, started in 2013. The JISfTeH seeks three to four people to take on the roles of Assistant Editors of the journal. As one of the few open access journals that does not charge article processing fees or page charges this would be on a voluntary basis. Assistant editors will be mentored in the day to day running of the journal using the open-source publishing platform Open Journal Systems. They will be assigned different roles, on a rotational basis, covering the various phases of paper publication from receipt of a paper,editorial review, peer review, publication decision, copy editing, layout, proofreading and electronic publication. The workload would be variable but initially not more than about one to two hours per week. Applicants should have experience of the publication of their own work in peer-reviewed scientific journals, a sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, a willingness to learn the Open Journal Systems platform, a working command of English and be able to work as part of a distributed team. It is envisaged that the future editors of JISfTeH would come from this group. All applicants will be interviewed and the call remains open until the posts are filled. Sähköisten terveydenhuollon palveluiden merkitys on viime vuosina korostunut globaalisti. Suomessa aihe on erittäin ajankohtainen hyvinvointialueiden aloituksen myötä. Tammikuun lopussa Varsovassa olleessa kokouksessa terveystieteiden tohtori Pirkko Kouri valittiin International Society for Telemedicine &eHealth seuran (ISfTeH) varapuheenjohtajaksi uudelle kaudelle 2023-2025. ISfTeH on maailman telelääketieteen seurojen kattojärjestö, ja siinä on 111 kansallisuutta ja aluetta edustettuna eri työryhmissä. Kourin edustus on Suomelle merkittävä vaikutuskanava, koska ISfTeH toimii läheisessä suhteessa mm. maailman terveysjärjestöön WHO:on ja kehittää terveydenhuollon digitalisaation koulusta maailmanlaajuisesti sekä pyrkii lisäämään moniammatillista yhteistyötä ja alan opiskelijoiden asemaa. Kouri valittiin ISfTeH hallitukseen Suomen Telelääketieteen ja eHealth seuran esityksestä. Hän on toiminut pitkään suomalaisen seuran sihteerinä, useiden alan kansallisten ja kansainvälisten konferenssien järjestämistoimikunnissa ja guest editorin tehtävissä alan suomalaisessa tieteellisessä lehdessä, Finnish Journal of eHealth and eWelfaressa. Hän on myös ollut aktiivinen tieteellisessä julkaisutoiminnassa sekä kansallisissa että kansainvälisissä lehdissä. Aiemmassa työssään Kouri on toiminut digitaalisen terveyden koulutuksen kehittämiseksi mm. koostamalla Savonia-ammattikorkeakouluun englanninkielisen, virtuaalisen Master in Digital Health tutkinto-ohjelma, joka oli samalla ensimmäinen täysin verkossa toteutettava monialainen tutkinto Suomessa. Tutkinto yhdisti sosiaali- ja terveysalaan teknologian ja esihenkilötoiminnan koulutuksen. Aiemmilla kausillaan ISfTeH:ssa Kouri oli sekä ensimmäinen hoitotyötaustainen ja ensimmäinen nainen varapuheenjohtajana. Hän on toiminut aktiivisesti hoitotyön tietoteknologian edistämisessä ja hänen osaamistaan ovat hyödyntäneet sekä Suomen sairaanhoitajat ja kansainvälinen sairaanhoitajien järjestö, International Council of Nurses. Pirkko Kourin valinta ISfTeH:n varapuheenjohtajaksi vahvistaa Suomen kansainvälisiä yhteyksiä eHealth alueella ja tuo korkeatahoista suomalaista osaamista tälle vaikuttamisalueelle. Finnish Journal of eHealth and eWelfare (FinJeHeW) on Sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon tietojenkäsittely-yhdistyksen ja Suomen Telelääketieteen ja e-Health seuran kustantama tieteellinen aikakausjulkaisu, joka on ilmestynyt vuodesta 2009 lähtien. FinJeHeW julkaisee tieteenalaansa ja siihen läheisesti liittyvien tieteenalojen kirjoituksia kuten pääkirjoituksia, artikkeleita, katsauksia, lyhyitä raportteja, konferenssiraportteja ja lectio praecursorioita. FinJeHeW-lehti on alansa ainoa suomalainen vertaisarvioitu tieteellinen aikakausjulkaisu ja julkaisee sisältöä suomeksi ja englanniksi. Haemme FinJeHeW -lehteen päätoimittajaa ja varapäätoimittajaa. Päätoimittaja ja varapäätoimittaja vastaavat lehden sisällöstä ja sen kehittämisestä sekä toimitusprosessin kokonaisuudesta yhteistyössä toimitusneuvoston, toimitussihteerin ja teknisen toimittajan kanssa. Toimitusprosessissa päätoimittajien vastuulla ovat numeroiden aikataulutus, artikkeleiden vertaisarviointiprosessista vastaaminen ja toimitusneuvoston esittelijänä toimiminen. Päätoimittajien pätevyysvaatimuksena on tohtorin tutkinto sekä hyvä suomen ja englannin kielen taito. Tehtävä edellyttää kokemusta tieteellisestä julkaisutoiminnasta ja käsikirjoitusten arvioinnista sekä kykyä kehittää lehteä yhdessä toimitusneuvoston kanssa. Lisäansioiksi katsotaan tuntemus ja kokemus verkkojulkaisemisesta (esimerkiksi OJS-alustalla), saavutettavuudesta sekä viestinnästä sosiaalisessa mediassa. Uusi päätoimittaja ja varapäätoimittaja aloittavat toimessaan 2023. Tehtävistä maksetaan toimitusneuvoston vuosittain määrittelemä palkkio. Finnish National eHealth award is delivered by President and Secretary of the Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth. The Board of Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth (FSTeH) delivers annually national eHealth award. The award is based on significant accomplishments in the field of telemedicine and eHealth. The required activity can be for example a doctoral thesis in this area or some other important activity in the national or international level supporting the society’s goals. The award is delivered during annual Finnish national conference on telemedicine and eHealth. In the year 2022, Finnish national eHealth award is delivered for the 19th time. eHealth award for life-long work The Board of FSTeH decided to deliver during the 27th Finnish National Telemedicine and eHealth Conference one joint eHealth award emphasizing both the recipients´ personal achievements and their seamless collaboration in their life-long work for the benefit of telemedicine and eHealth. For the first time in the history of FSTeH, recognition is given to a couple: DDS Sinikka Salo has made a major contribution to the benefit of telemedicine and eHealth during her professional career. Already her academic thesis was related to health data management and secondary use of health data in dental sciences. During her years in the FSTeH she served as a board member and as the vice-president of the society. While working as a chief dentist in the city of Kemi, she was the main local organiser of the year 2004 annual Finnish telemedicine conference, having then as keynote speakers e.g. the later prime minister of Finland, Mr Jyrki Katainen and the later CEO of Danish MEDCOM organisation, Mr Lars Hulbaek. She was one of the first dentists in Finland to achieve a special competence in healthcare information technology. Sinikka Salo has served several years in Japan as the CEO of the Finnish-Japanese Welfare Center, assisting numerous Finnish enterprises to establish connections and creating personal relationships with Japanese experts in the field. She has also served as a deputy mayor of the city of Oulu, promoting citizen-centered selfcare and health technology innovations. She has also served in the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health with special duties connected to healthcare and social care reform. MSc (Eng) Harri Salo has been a member of the society since early 2000, serving as the official webmaster of the society for nearly 20 years. During Sinikka´s years in the board, Harri simultaneously contributed to the arrangements of various society activities and continued his career as an editing webmaster thereafter without breaks even through their years abroad. The society president and board members could always trust that the information presented on the website was up-to-date. While in Sendai Japan, Harri Salo contributed to and organised visiting programs to numerous Finnish delegations, including the FSTeH board. He also helped to establish necessary connections for organising joint telemedicine and eHealth conferences with Japanese colleagues. Harri Salo has helped to collect the heritage of the society, after new persons in charge have taken the leading roles. On these grounds, Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth presents Sinikka Salo and Harri Salo with the year 2022 eHealth Award in recognition of their extensive life work in the field of Telemedicine and eHealth.

Suomen telelääketieteen ja eHealth seuran hallitus on päättänyt myöntää seuran jäsenille haettavaksi 1000 euron apurahan kansainvälisiin alan konferensseihin osallistumisen tueksi. Apuraha myönnetään kerran vuodessa joko syksyllä tai keväällä. Apuraha voidaan myöntää yhdelle tai jaettuna useammalle hakijalle. Seuraavan kerran apuraha on jaossa 1.8.-30.9.2022. Apurahan kriteerit ovat: Hakija on Suomen telelääketieteen ja eHealth – seuran jäsen. Seuran hallituksen jäsenet eivät kuitenkaan ole hakukelpoisia. Apurahan hakijalla on hyväksytty esitelmä tai posteri kohteena olevassa kansainvälisessä konferenssissa tai tapahtumassa Suomen ulkopuolella. Esitelmä tai posteri liittyy suomalaisen telelääketieteen ja eHealth alan tutkimukseen, kehittämiseen tai opetukseen. Apurahaa voi hakea matka- tai majoituskustannuksiin tai osallistumismaksun kuluihin. Päivärahoja tai palkkoja ei voi apurahalla kattaa. Hakemus on vapaamuotoinen, mutta siinä on hyvä perustella, miksi kohdetapahtuma on tärkeä ja mikä on hakijan oman abstraktin merkitys, koska seuran hallitus asettaa hakemukset paremmuusjärjestykseen. The ISfTeH is honoured to present its new President: Dr. Michele Y. Griffith. Dr. Griffith takes over the helm from Dr. Andy Fischer who had announced his retirement from his position as ISfTeH President earlier last year, after serving as President since 2012. A call for candidates was issued among the ISfTeH Board of Directors and Michele Griffith was elected unanimously as the new President of the ISfTeH.  We thank Andy Fischer for his many years of leadership, engagement and support, and we look forward to continue working with him, as he continues to be an active ISfTeH member through his company MEDGATE and through the Swiss Association for Telemedicine & eHealth.   We welcome Michele Griffith as new President and look forward to expanding and developing the ISfTeH global network under her leadership. Dr. Griffith would like to share her Presidency Vision Statement with all members: It was October 2013, and I had been a member of the ISfTeH for a little over a year. I arrived in Takamatsu, Japan for the 18th ISfTeH International Conference. Like many attendees, I arrived with the aim of networking and gaining access to experts in the field of telemedicine to nourish my implementation efforts in the U.S. Viewed as a stand-alone project rather than an integral part of the healthcare system, and far from widespread adoption, telehealth utilization was in the single digits. Fast forward to pandemic times and, out of necessity, the future is here; awareness and adoption of telemedicine are global. The ISfTeH has been in the vanguard of digital health fulfilling its mission to ”facilitate the international dissemination of knowledge and experience in Telemedicine and eHealth and provide access to recognized experts in the field worldwide.” This role is more important than ever as all three key stakeholders-clients, providers and stewards – (governments, organizations, healthcare systems, public health entities, non-profits, community centers and local healthcare providers) seek guidance and resources to successfully integrate telehealth into the healthcare ecosystem. The ISfTeH is in a prime position to use its most powerful resource to fulfill this role: its members and, more importantly, the engagement of its members. It is sincerely an honor to serve as your newly elected president of the International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth. I am thankful for the exemplary leadership of my predecessor, Dr. Andy Fisher, and the steadfast dedication and hard work of the Board of Directors. The membership of this great organization, representing over 100 countries, is the heart. The strength of the ISfTeH lies in the heartbeat of its members. The more engaged we are, the more our knowledge and resources can serve to perfuse and proliferate improved health outcomes internationally through the use of telemedicine and digital health. My vision for this presidency is to harness the resources of the Society to provide guidance for the successful integration of Telehealth, and digital health in general, into the healthcare ecosystem in countries around the world. We are taking the first steps in a journey to the day when the term digital health is no longer part of our lexicon, because health has gone digital. We are a long way away. Työelämäprofessori Jarmo Reponen ja yliopettaja Anja Henner palkittiin merkittävästä elämäntyöstä sähköisen terveydenhuollon alalla eHealth 2021 -konferenssissa Oulussa. Kansainvälisen palkinnon sai Oulun yliopiston työelämäprofessori Jarmo Reponen, suomalaisen telelääketieteen pioneeri. International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth -seura, ISfTeH, myönsi viidennen kerran elämäntyöstä professori Louis Lareng – Lifetime Achievement Award – tunnustuksen. Palkinnonsaaja on henkilö, jolla on vähintään yli 20 vuoden elämäntyö digitaalisen terveydenhuollon parissa huomioiden työssä yhteiskunnallisen, koulutuksen, tieteellisen, innovaatiotoiminnan ja johtamisen osa-alueet. Reponen on työurallaan kehittänyt yli 30 vuoden ajan terveydenhuollon sähköisiä toimintatapoja erilaisiin tarpeisiin. Hän oli mukana hyödyntämässä mobiiliteknologiaa terveydenhuollossa jo silloin, kun älypuhelinmarkkinat olivat rajalliset. Hänen ryhmänsä kehitti maailman ensimmäisen lääketieteellisen sovelluksen älypuhelimille. Raahen sairaalan radiologian ylilääkärinä ollessaan Reponen toteutti Suomen ensimmäisen työnkulultaan kokonaan digitaalisen röntgenyksikön. Hän on työskennellyt merkittävissä tehtävissä useissa Oulun yliopiston ja yliopistollisen sairaalan EU-tutkimusrahoitetuissa hankkeissa. Hän on johtanut ESKO-potilaskertomusjärjestelmän kehitystä ja käyttöönottoa sekä organisoinut alueellisen teleradiologiaverkon toimintaa. Hän on toiminut kansallisen lääketieteen koulutuksen digitalisaatiohankkeen MEDigin hankejohtajana kehittäen verkko-opetusta. Professori Reponen on toiminut useissa asiantuntija- ja luottamustehtävissä, mm. eurooppalaisten ja kotimaisten ehealth-järjestöjen puheenjohtajana ja kansainvälisten konferenssien organisoijana. Oulun yliopistoon hän oli perustamassa FinnTelemedicum tutkimusyksikköä. Professori Reposen tutkimus on keskittynyt terveydenhuollon tietojärjestelmiin, erityisesti niiden käytön laajuuden, käytettävyyden ja vaikutusten arviointiin. Yhteistyökumppanien kanssa kehitetyt mittaristot ovat kansainvälisesti käytössä. Reponen on omalla elämäntyöllään edistänyt merkittävästi suomalaista telelääketiedettä. Palkinnon jakoivat ISfTeH:n Executive Director Yunkap Kwankam ja  Pirkko Kouri, joka on ISfTeH:n varapuheenjohtaja ja kansainvälisen hallituksen jäsen. Kansainvälinen telelääketieteen ja eHealth -seurojen kattojärjesto International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH) levittää tietoa ja kokemuksia kansainvälisesti telelääketieteen ja sähköisen terveydenhuollon alalta järjestämällä konferensseja ja webinaareja sekä verkottamalla alan asiantuntijoita maailmanlaajuisesti. Louis Lareng – Lifetime Achievement Awardin ovat aiemmin saaneet: Prof. Louis Lareng (Ranska), Prof. Ronald Merrell (USA), Prof. György Miklos Böhm (Brasilia) ja Dr. Prathap C Reddy (Intia). —- Kansallisen eHealth-palkinnon sai TtT, röntgenhoitaja, yliopettaja (eläk.) Anja Henner tunnustuksena pitkästä urasta sähköisen terveydenhuollon kehittämisessä, tutkimuksessa ja opetuksessa. Suomen telelääketieteen ja eHealth-seura ry (STeHS) myönsi vuosittaisen eHealth-palkinnon nyt 18. kerran peräkkäin. Oulun ammattikorkeakoulun yliopettajana Anja Henner teki 80-luvulta asti uraauurtavaa työtä telelääketieteen ja sähköisen terveydenhuollon opetuksen ja tutkimuksen hyväksi. Hänen tutkimus- ja kehitystyönsä kohteena olivat säteilysuojelu ja digitaalinen kuvantaminen, annoksen optimointi, laadunvarmistus sekä telelääketiede ja eHealth. Turvallisuuden näkökulmaan liittyviä asioita hän selvitteli englanninkielisessä väitöskirjassaan. Henner oli aktiivinen tutkija sekä alueellinen kehittäjä, ja hän perusti jo varhain yritysyhteistyön avulla digitaalisen simulaatiolaboratorion opetuksen ja kehitystyön tueksi. Lisäksi hän on yksi etäopetuksen pioneereista soveltaen video-neuvotteluopetusta yli kahden vuosikymmen ajan. Hän on kannustanut opiskelijoita digitaalisen tulevaisuuden tutkimukseen ja käytännön toteutukseen. Telelääketieteen hoitotyön tutkimuksen alueella Henner on yksi kaikkien aikojen aktiivisimmista suomalaisista osallistujista Euroopan radiologikongressissa ja hän on esitellyt tutkimusaiheitaan useissa tieteellisissä esityksissä, kutsutuissa luennoissa ja työpajoissa. Hän on myös luonut ansiokkaasti kansainvälisiä verkostoja EU-hankkeissa ja tuonut opiskelijat mukaan alan kansainvälistymiskehitykseen. Yhteyksiä kuvaa parhaiten hänen laaja julkaisutoimintansa. Palkinnon jakoi STeHS puheenjohtaja Outi Ahonen. Suomen Telelääketieteen ja e-Health seura toimii vaikuttajana ja suunnannäyttäjänä telemedisiinan ja eHealthin alueella Suomessa ja kansainvälisesti. Seura järjestää vuotuisen kansalllisen eHealth-konferenssin ja muita seminaareja, toimii toisena julkaisijana Finnish Journal of eHealth and eWelfare -lehdessä, tukee alan tutkimustyötä, antaa lausuntoja telelääketieteen kysymyksissä sekä ylläpitää suhteita ulkomaisiin alan järjestöihin. Suomen telelääketieteen ja eHealth seuran hallitus jakaa vuosittain eHealth- tunnustuksen. Palkinnon saamisen kriteereinä on erityisen ansiokas toiminta telelääketieteen alueella, joksi katsotaan esimerkiksi telelääketieteen ja/tai eHealth alaan kuuluva väitöskirja tai muu erittäin merkittävä seuran tavoitteiden mukainen toiminta kansallisella tai kansainvälisellä tasolla. Palkinto jaetaan vuosittaisen kansallisen seminaarin yhteydessä, 7-8.10.2021. Ehdotukset voi laittaa seuran sihteerille Pirkko Kourille, secretary@telemedicine.fi  

Sääntömääräinen vuosikokouksemme järjestetään torstaina 22.4.2021 klo 16:00 alkaen hyödyntäen myös etäosallistumista. Vuosikokous järjestetään Kuopiossa, Sokos hotelli Puijonsarvessa (Minna Canthin katu 16, Kuopio). Vallitsevasta poikkeustilanteesta johtuen paikan päällä voi osallistujia olla enintään 10 henkilöä. Muut osallistujat voivat osallistua etäyhteyden kautta. Etäyhteys järjestetään Zoom-palvelun kautta ja edellyttää osallistujalta tietokonetta/älypuhelinta sekä internet-yhteyttä. MEDIA RELEASE 5 October 2020 The Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth (FSTeH) has granted two eHealth awards for merit to MD, ENT Specialist Anne Kallio and PhD Minna Mykkänen. In addition, FSTeH granted honorary membership to MSc (engineering) Seppo Savikurki. The annual honorary award is given for significant accomplishments in the field of telemedicine and eHealth. The award ceremony takes place during the annual Finnish national conference on telemedicine and eHealth. The conference, celebrating its 25th anniversary, was organised in a virtual online environment due to COVID-19, and the award was delivered for the 17th time. Anne Kallio was awarded for her life’s work in digital healthcare. She has played an important role in the development of the Finnish national infrastructure for digital healthcare. Among others, she was project manager when the regional digital services were rolled out in South-Eastern Finland. She played a crucial role in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in the establishment of Kanta Services. She is also a long-term board member of FSTeH. PhD Minna Mykkänen was awarded for her work in the field of modelling structural healthcare data and the development of the use and reuse of this data. Well-analysed clinical data allows more efficient use of the data in follow-up, assessment, development and research. The model helps to make national and international cooperation more efficient, collate reference data, promote evidence-based care and support leadership and management. FSTeH can grant honorary membership to a member or cooperation partner for their special accomplishments in their work for society. Honorary membership is not granted every year. This year, MSc (Engineering) Seppo Savikurki was recognised for his 13 years as a board member of FSTeH. As board member, he was responsible for social and corporate relations. MEDIA RELEASE 5 October 2020 The use and demand of digital services skyrocketed in a short period of time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, we do not have to start from scratch: the digitalisation of healthcare services has been going on for a while. As digitalisation progresses, the role of the individual citizen becomes increasingly important. The international conference organised by the Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth discussed digital healthcare and its various aspects. The theme of the conference was international and Nordic eHealth trends and solutions. The 25th conference was organised in a virtual online environment due to COVID-19. COO Niina Aagaard of Nordic Innovation says that the prime ministers of the Nordic countries have set a vision according to which the Nordic countries will be the most integrated region in the world and the leader in sustainable development by 2030. “This means that we aim to be the most integrated health region in the world. Our vision is to offer the best possible individualised healthcare services for all citizens of the Nordic countries both in cities and sparsely populated areas,” she says. In order to meet this goal, it must be possible to offer services to the citizens of the Nordic countries across national borders. This means that information regarding health and treatment must be able to cross borders smoothly without barriers. Various systems must be mutually compatible. Kanta – the Finnish crown jewel Cross-border exchange of information requires each country to have a high-quality national system for storing and processing health data. Finland is in a good position in this respect, thanks largely to the national health record Kanta, which has now been in operation for ten years. Chief Specialist Vesa Jormanainen of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare presented the Kanta system at the conference. He referred to several international studies, according to which Finland is at the forefront of digital healthcare. The Kanta services also include My Kanta, which is designed for each individual Finnish citizen. It is a network service in which everyone can view their medical data. “My Kanta has been enthusiastically received. Some 2.4 million Finns used it last year alone. There were some 20.9 million individual logins. I’m particularly proud of the age structure of the users: nearly one-third of citizens over 75 have used the service at least once,” Chief Specialist Jormanainen said, describing the popularity of the service. New services through digitalisation Terveyskylä – Health Village – is another important digital health service developed in Finland. Whereas Kanta is intended for recording and viewing health data, Health Village provides citizens with health-related information and digital care pathways. The service therefore focuses on referral services.
